Midlife360 CIC
Midlife360 CIC is a growing social enterprise which focuses on enabling midlife women in Cambridgeshire and Peterborough.
We represent a community of midlife women and work with them to give the confidence, skills, and ability needed to thrive in age-positive work cultures.
Midlife360 also works with Cambridgeshire based employers to attract and access this often overlooked section of society. These diverse, often underestimated women can significantly contribute to the economy and the broader fabric of our society.
We truly value the connected, collaborative nature of the Cambridgeshire business community and we thrive within this inclusive community. We are keen to work with employer partners and other stakeholders, alongside our community of midlife women to make our region a trailblazer in equality and opportunity for all.
Like most of the UK, the region of Cambridgeshire and Peterborough is facing a skills crisis, exacerbated by factors such as Covid-19, Brexit, demographic shifts and rapid technological advancements.
These challenges carry substantial consequences for the economy, manifesting as slowed growth and an inability to meet productivity and competitiveness requirements. Moreover, they entail significant effects on society, including the exacerbation of inequality and strains on social services.
At the same there are sizeable cohorts of older workers disengaging from the workforce and whilst the UK government has taken steps to recognise and address the skills shortage, our research demonstrates that it underestimates the enormity of the problem and two key challenges remain:-
- 3.5 million people are economically inactive, so not considered in unemployment figures or on the DWP’s radar.
- Government initiatives are not sufficiently grassroots to resonate with the audiences they are designed to support. And despite a greater effort, the number of people these initiatives help is declining.
Evidence from the RAND Europe Report Employment and age in the Cambridgeshire and Peterborough area - Cambridge Ahead offers deeper insights into the workforce across the six geographic regions within the Cambridge and Peterborough Combined Authority (CPCA). It presents alarming findings, emphasising the pressing need for businesses and civic leaders in the region to proactively address the challenges posed by an ageing workforce.
Imagine a region where midlife women have the confidence, skills & ability to thrive within age-positive work cultures.
